What would a stranger know about me from reading my blog?
*That I like, no, love chocolate
*That I have a boy we call Peter Rabbit, and that I don't actually own the book
*That I like to write
*That I've been struggling emotionally lately
el-e-e at hello, self took the time to look through my blog and get to know me, and even comment a little. I won her pay it forward contest, and it blew me away how thoughtful she was with her gift to me. It couldn't have come at a better time, and I cried. I love you el-e-e!
Now, it's my turn to "Pay it Forward." I'm not going to tell you what your prize will be, but I'm also going to make you work for it... just a little. Tell me in the comments about something nice a stranger did for you that made your day. I'll pick a winner randomly from the comments and send you a prize! Good luck! Oh, and the deadline to enter will be the 16th 'cause that's my little sister's birthday.

The first time I flew on an airplane by myself with both kids (4 yr old and 8 month old), I couldn't get my stroller to collapse to go through security. Luckily, one person offered to hold my baby while another helped with my stroller. And then, when I was getting on the plane, I had two different people offer to help with my bags!
Yesterday a stranger invite me to walk alongside her as we took our babies for walks. It was a nice glimpse of friendship in a lonely day.
I was walking down the street with Dylan inhis pushchair. It was bin day, and the houses on our street open right onto the pavement, so everyone's bins block the sidewalk. I saw this total chav get into his car, and I was waiting for him to drive away so I could use the road to get the pushchair down the street. Instead, he got out of the car and moved the bins out of the way. I nearly fell over--he didn't look like the type to go out of his way to help. It restored my faith in humanity!
a stranger bummed me a wet wipe when there was no toilet paper in the bathroom at the park and my short person had just pooped...talk about a life saver!!!
thanks for hosting the pif giveaway, i am keeping my fingers crossed!
Today a random marine opened the door for me at the mall while I looked like the biggest idiot balancing two big bags, pushing a stroller and talking on my cell phone. I hate people who multi-task like that out in public so I totally thought I didn't deserve his generosity, but it was nice nonetheless. Thanks for the chance to win!
That gift is the sweetest thing I've ever seen. I don't need a gift, but I had a very nice stranger experience in the last 24 hours...
Last night, I was trying to book some frequent flier tickets to go visit friends in Peru. After half and hour with a very nice agent, I was disconnected. I was quite upset when I called back and, of course, got another agent on the line. He spent another half hour with me. During that time, he coached me into saving money by booking part of the tix online while on the phone with him so he didn't have to charge me the $20/person booking fee (x my family of 4 is $80).
So in a world where airlines are charging for luggage and pillows, this guy goes out of his way to save my family $80 on FREE tickets. Either a) he is related to me and I don't know it, B) he actually works for another airline, or C) he is my guardian travel angel. Instead of getting off the phone mad after an hour, I actually had a smile on my face! (and tickets to Peru, woohoo!)
"I have always depended on the kindness of strangers."
Isn't it awful that I can't remember? Yet I KNOW many people have done wonderful things for me! The guy at the airport booking a new flight for me when I was panicked that I missed the flight (no charge and only 1/2 hr late!). I know I've been treated kind enough to bring tears to my eyes. I love the kind comments I get from strangers on my online photos... (take my name out of the drawing, sis. I just wanted to try to show my gratitude even if I don't remember!)
the librarian at the library next ot my house remembered me and what I had checked out last time and she recommenced a book to me. sweet!
At a music festival a few weeks ago, all the porta-potties (I'd never thought about how to spell that before!) had run out of toilet paper. A girl going into the one next to me heard me say there was no toilet paper and pulled a wad out of her bag. "I always carry toilet paper at these things. You want some? How about this much? Is that enough?"
